Adelaida (Ida) Hu of Berlin and Waitsfield, VT, passed away unexpectedly November 15, 2009.
She was born on June 4, 1940, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Gilberto and Paquita Serrano.
On June 22, 1959, she married Kong Sheng (Kenny) Hu who predeceased her in 2007.
Ida is survived by five children and their families: Michael and
Patricia Serrano and their daughters Alexis and Shannon of Shelburne,
VT; Stephen and Elizabeth Hu and their children Bryon and Meredith of
Richmond, VT; Arlene and Leo Benjamin of Sunrise, FL, and their
children Isaiah Benjamin and his wife Heather of Pittsburg, PA, Sarah
also of Pittsburg, PA, and Seth of Sunrise, FL; Carmen Hu of Williston,
VT; and Barbara and Alan Hunton and their children Schuylar and Maria
of So. Burlington, VT.
Kenny and Ida moved their family from New Jersey in 1973 and settled in
Waitsfield, VT, where Kenny was head chef at The China Barn.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, at 11 a.m.
at the Church of the Crucified One in Moretown, VT. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made in Ida's name to Precious Moments, c/o Church of
