John A. "Jack" Zimmerman, 67, of Princeton, NJ, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Burlington Hospital in Burlington, VT.
Born in Newark, he resided in Cherry Hill before moving to Princeton in
2000. He was a resident of both Princeton and Warren, VT. Jack was a
graduate of Seton Hall Preparatory School and Seton Hall University
with an athletic scholarship for track. He received his MBA from Seton
Hall University. Jack served as a captain in the Air Force during the
Vietnam War before embarking on his career as an EDP auditor with
Smith-Kline in Philadelphia, PA. After retirement he started a family
business with his son, John, Blue Island Pool and Spa of Long Beach
Island and Mad River Pool and Spa of Warren, VT. He was a member of the
Mad River Rotary, active with the Big Brothers organization for many
years, and an avid stamp collector, skier and photographer.
Son of the late John A. and Agnes Zimmerman Sr., he is survived by his
wife of 43 years, Mary L. Serge Zimmerman; two sons and a
daughter-in-law, John M. and Biagina Zimmerman of Loveladies and Eric
A. Zimmerman of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Russell Zimmerman of
Bloomfield; a sister, Gail Zimmerman Cox of Toms River; three beloved
grandchildren, Sayer, Olivia and Keara; brothers and sisters-in-law
Carolyn and Gerhardt Muller of Belle Mead, Anthony Serge of
Lawrenceville, Reverends Ruby and Marcel Narucki of Denver, CO, Valerie
and Gregory MacDonald of Santa Rosa, CA, Pamela and Robert Keller of
Jamison, PA, Barbara and Andrew Getz of Lawrenceville, Michael Serge of
Raritan, Francis and Cindy Serge of South Brunswick; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He will be remembered and missed by his teammates and brethren from the Seton Hall Prep Men's Track Team Class of 1960.
The funeral was held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 23 South 5th Ave., Highland Park.
Calling hours were held Monday, October 12, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
