Augusta Wolcott Howes of Westwood, MA, formerly of Framingham, MA,
died peacefully on April 13, 2009. Born on January 9, 1926, in Boston,
Augusta was a daughter of the late Oliver Wolcott and Sybil Wolcott of
Hamilton, Massachusetts. Augusta is survived by her husband of 63
years, Kenneth Howes Jr., and her four children Frances Valiente of
Tucson, AZ, Anna Betz of Garden City, NY, and Cornwall, VT, Madeleine
"Lili" Howes of Waitsfield, VT, and Kenneth "Obie" Harrington-Howes of
Darien, CT.
Augusta was an avid volunteer, traveler, tennis player, gardener,
reader, bridge player, symphony-goer, movie buff and Mad River Glen
skier. She was a Red Cross volunteer for over 40 years in Framingham
and coached girls' tennis at Framingham South High School. In addition
to her husband and four children, Augusta is survived by her brother
Oliver Wolcott Jr. of Hamilton, MA, her sister Helen Parson of
Scarborough, ME, her son-in-law John Betz, her daughter-in-law Beth
Harrington-Howes, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many
nieces, nephews, and special friends from over the years.
