Bryan was a 1962 graduate of Waitsfield High School and, that following summer, he and his father, Elwin, began building the Kingsbury Service Station which they opened that fall. Together they operated the service station until Elwin's retirement in 1982 and at that point Bryan and his wife, Victoria, converted the station to Kingsbury Country Store, a convenience store that they ran together until they sold it in 1999 upon Bryan's retirement.
Bryan was an integral part of the Warren community where he served on the volunteer fire department, was the town constable, delinquent tax collector and was a member of the town select board. Bryan's other memberships included the International Order of the Odd Fellows in Waitsfield, the Mad River Lodge #77 F&AM in Waitsfield and he was a former deputy with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
Well known in the Mad River Valley for his joyous sense of humor and his innate ability to fix anything mechanical, Bryan also took great pleasure in his camps, first in Vergennes and more recently in Alburgh, as well as fishing, boating and cooking.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Victoria Kingsbury of Waitsfield; his mother, Janice Kingsbury of Waterbury; two sons, Bryan M. Kingsbury and his partner Isaac Pugh of Boston, MA, and Troy A. Kingsbury and his wife Cheryl of Waitsfield; two grandchildren, McKayla Kingsbury and Jakob Kingsbury, both of Waitsfield; two sisters, Judith Grandfield and her husband Eugene of Moretown and Joan Andrews of Waterbury; a brother, Robert Kingsbury and his companion Marsha Schafer of Morrisville; a special sister-in-law, Lillian O'Rourke and her husband Joseph of Rutland; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service celebrating Bryan's life will be held from the Warren United Church on Thursday, August 7, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Warren Town Hall. Private inurnment will take place in the Warren Village Cemetery.
