A U.S. Army Veteran WWII Pacific Theater, he saw action in the Philippines, Guadal Canal and New Caladonia. Upon his honorable discharge, he then worked at Monsanto Chemical Co., retiring after a 38-year career.
He loved his gardens, dancing, reading and being with family and friends.
He marveled at the Vermont snowstorms and the wildlife that wandered through the yard and especially the occasional black bear on the porch. Summers, he enjoyed reading on the porch or feeding the chickadees and chipmunks that would sit in his hands.
He had the opportunity to love three women in his life: wives Josephine Nycz and Anna Mae McCarthy and fiancée Betty Neades with whom he shared the latter years of his retirement.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jo Anne and James Ostrowski of Whately, MA, and Barbara Ryder and John Feeley of Fayston, VT. He also leaves a grandson Andrew, several nieces and nephews and his buddy "Sam" the cat.
