George attended schools in Warren and served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. George worked as a mechanic for many years in the Mad River Valley and then was employed by Brothers Building Co. for several years. More recently he worked as a caretaker for several private homes in The Valley. For the past three years he has made his home in Vergennes. He was a former member of the American Legion and in his leisure time enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and photography.
He is survived by his son, Matthew G. Luce of Duxbury, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by a sister, Marlene Bettis, and a brother, Eugene "Bing" Luce.
Graveside services will be held from the Warren Village Cemetery on Friday, May 30, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Veterans Administration Hospital, Attn: Disabled American Veteran's Travel, 215 North Main Street, White River Jct., Vermont 05009. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
