We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Cal Kogan, late of Montreal, Quebec, and Warren, Vermont.
He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife Helen; treasured children and spouses Jennifer Kogan and Craig Blackwell (Washington, D.C.), Ron and Lucinda Kogan (Toronto, Ontario), Cary Kogan and Isabelle Boutet (Ottawa, Ontario), Gabriella Kogan and Aubrey Rosenhek (Montreal, Quebec). He was greatly loved Grandpa Cal to Nicolas and Lia Blackwell, Sophia and Hannah Kogan and baby Miriam Kogan. Dear brother of Marty Kogan (Alice) and Joyce Globus (Larry), and much loved uncle to Chloe and Matt Kogan.
Cal was born in Worchester, Massachusetts. He lived in Montreal as a child, later attending Williston Academy. His athletic skills earned him a hockey scholarship to St. Lawrence University.
Cal became an accomplished entrepreneur, founding Calko Canada, a textile factory in Riviere du Loup, Quebec, in 1954. In 1971, he started a plastics company called Plastic Monofil in Vermont. He was an inventor and held several patents.
An avid sportsman who loved the outdoors, his greatest pleasures were found skiing, hiking, biking and playing tennis in these mountains. Mostly he loved sharing these skills with others. He met challenges with great spirit and a brave heart. Cal will be missed by his family and good friends.
