Pauline Greta Gallagher
August 10, 1930 – January 29, 2025
Pauline Greta Gallagher, 94, a longtime resident of Warren, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at her home in Warren. Born on August 10, 1930, in Warren she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mildred (Downer) Long. She was previously married to the late Clarence G. Gallagher.
She grew up attending Warren schools and graduated from Waitsfield High School. She attended the Burlington School of Cosmetology as a young woman. After her marriage to Clarence, she was busy as a homemaker and mother of five boys. Throughout her life, she worked at many local businesses in the Mad River Valley, the Sugarbush Inn, The Miller’s Thumb, and Z’s Clothing.
She was a member of the Warren United Church of Christ, and the Mad River Valley Area Senior Center, and she worked for many years as a hospice care provider. Polly often visited friends and family who had transitioned to living in local nursing homes. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, Bluegrass music, and fiddlers. Polly was very appreciative of all the support she got from the Warren Church community and her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Gallagher of White River Junction, Paul Gallagher of Warren, and Shawn Gallagher of Barre and his companion Denise Weaver; her granddaughters Ashley Gallagher and her partner George Alkhoury of Westport, Massachusetts, Kailyn LaRoche and her husband Ken of Raymond New Hampshire; as well as nieces’ nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her sons Stuart Gallagher and Gary Gallagher; her sisters Gloria Currier, Melba Long, Glee Brooks; her brothers Jerome Long and Sidney Long.
A celebration of the life of Pauline G. Gallagher will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Warren United Church of Christ at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot in Warren Village Cemetery, and a reception will follow in the Warren Town Hall.
