Michael Walter Long
Michael Walter Long, 77, of Moretown, Vermont, passed away on October 23, 2024, surrounded by family at the McLure Miller Respite House. He passed of cancer.
Michael was born March11, 1947, in Manhattan, NY, the son of James and Arline (Brommer) Long.
Michael was a graduate of the New York City Police Academy and spent years as a mounted police officer followed by a career at the Montpelier Police Department, where he eventually retired.
Michael especially loved riding his Spyder and being a part of the Spyderlovers online community. He also enjoyed skiing, spending time with family and friends, and working on cars.
Remaining to cherish Michael’s memory are children, Eric Long and his daughter-in-law-Siobhan, Jenna Long; grandchild, Andrew Long; brother, James Long; sister, Karen Nesi (Long) and husband John; ex-spouse, Elyse Long; many nieces and nephews and his cat Little Man. He also leaves behind all his friends at the NYPD and Montpelier Police Department.
Preceding Michael in death are parents, James, and Arline (Brommer) Long; brother, Patrick Long; sisters, Margaret McHugh, Kay Vosilla, and Helen Stark.
