Ronald (Ron) Geren passed away on February 25, 2024. He was born in Queens County, New York, on July 9, 1937. He earned a BS degree from Cornell University and an MBA degree from New York University and served three years as an officer in the U.S. Army.
Ron's business career was in the food industry, starting with General Foods Bird's Eye Division and later as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Morton Frozen Foods. In 1978 he started his own business, Geren Sales, a food brokerage company in the mid-Atlantic region which he sold in 1998, retiring to Warren, Vermont, and Savannah, Georgia. For many years Ron was the food industry chairperson for The Children's Cancer Foundation. He discovered the Mad River Valley and Sugarbush on a ski trip in 1968, and had a presence in The Valley ever since. He was active in the Mad River Valley Rotary Club, the Sugarbush Golf Club, the Waitsfield United Church of Christ, and, while it was active, served the town of Warren on various boards. He is survived by his wife Hilda and children James, Pamela, and Gregory.
