Alan J Menard 81, passed away peacefully at home in North Fayston, Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Alan was born October 19, 1942, in Burlington. He was the son of Marcel and Madeline Brosseau Menard. Alan grew up in Burlington and attended Burlington High School. As a young man Alan joined Local 693 Pipe and Steam Fitters Union. Over the course of his 35-year career Alan worked in many states on large projects including nuclear plants and was recognized as a premier welder.
Alan was an avid bird and deer hunter which led to the purchase of a deer camp in North Fayston. The camp underwent several expansions and became his main residence. Alan briefly retired in Florida; however, he quickly returned to Vermont and has resided continuously in North Fayston for many years. Alan had a deep fondness for dogs and always had at least one dog, in fact Alan was well known for traveling across the country in search of rare dogs. As a retired gentleman Alan frequented Valley establishments such as The Den and Blue Stone where he enjoyed gathering with friends.
Alan is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Carlene Brown, Jay Richard Gracey, Paul Gracey and Gregory Gero. Alan was predeceased by siblings Arnelle Gero, Audrey Gracey, Jean Therrien, Paul Menard and Carl Menard.
A celebration of life will be held Fridaym, January 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Perkins-Parker Funeral Home, 48 South Main Street Waterbury VT.
