We are saddened to announce the death of longtime Valley resident, Donald “Don” Eugene Harrison. He passed away on June 20, 2023, at 64 years old. Don was fighting a battle with gastric cancer when complications related to the cancer ultimately proved too much.

Don was born November 29, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, to mother Norine Ann Rietz and father Ilard Olin Harrison. He graduated from San Bonito High School in Hollister, California, in 1976. He lived in Sun Valley, Idaho, and moved to San Luis Obispo, California, in 1984. It was there he met his wife Judy playing coed softball. In 1993, Don and his family moved to Warren, Vermont, where he and Judy raised their three boys. Those who knew Don respected his deep dedication to his family, his job, and his active lifestyle. Don was the head of lodging and food and beverage at Sugarbush Resort for over 10 years. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and was vice president of Mad River Little League for many years. He went on to coach his son Zac at Harwood Union in the baseball program.

After their three sons finished high school, Don and Judy said goodbye to the snow and moved to sunny Tucson, Arizona. There, they spent the last 17 happy years in the desert.

Don is survived by his wife Judy, brother Ed, sister Dee, sons Lucas, Clinton and Zachary, daughter-in-law Grace and granddaughter Iyla.

A celebration of his life will be held on October 14, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Warren, VT. More details will be shared on his social media page and his son Clinton can be contacted at 802-595-2675 for information.
