Wilma (Billie) Ann (Higgins) Medeiros, 87, passed away in the comfort of her home in Moretown surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Born in Taunton, MA, on June 15, 1934, she was the daughter of William and Frances (Terry) Higgins. Billie was married to the late Robert J. Medeiros.
Billie attended schools in Taunton, graduating from Taunton High School in 1952. She was a legal assistant and also employed by probate court in Taunton for many years until her retirement.
She taught us all how to celebrate the holidays, to love family unconditionally and to take care of yourself and one another. Billie was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, cooking and loved Christmas and gardening, and writing short stories and poems. She loved visiting the casinos particularly while living in Reno, Nevada. Billie adored animals especially her precious cats.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Linda Hazard and her husband Steve of Moretown; her grandson, Michael Strojny and his fiancée Katelyn Costello of Woodland Hills, California; grandson, David Strojny and his wife Megan of West Mobile, Alabama; and granddaughter Morgan Tewksbury and her husband, Shane of Moretown, VT. She is also survived by her husband Bob’s children, Robin Leonard and her partner John MacDonald of Brockton, MA; Gloria Burke of Taunton, Scott Medeiros and his wife Alice of E. Taunton. Billie has eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Fay Schofield of Maine and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cormier of Taunton, Phyllis Barnaby of Las Vegas, NV; as well as extended family.
A celebration of Billie’s life will be held on September 18 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Hazard. A graveside service will take place at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton, MA, in late October. The family has requested that flowers be omitted, rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Mad River Valley Ambulance Service, P.O.
