Stanton Needleman Obituary PhotoStanton A. Needleman, 89, of Waitsfield, Vermont, passed away on Sunday morning, June 21, 2020, after a yearlong decline from cancer. He was comfortable and at peace at his passing. His wife, Judith, was by his side and cared for him at home with the help and unfailing support of Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.

Stan attended and graduated from Penn State University in 1952, where he studied business; it is there he met his wife, Judith. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a first lieutenant from 1952 to 1954 and then started a career as an independent rep throughout New England in the furniture and bedding industry. He also began investing in residential real estate in Boston and Vermont, moving to Waitsfield in 1985. He has called The Valley his home for nearly 35 years.

Stan was an active member of the community, serving as president for the Rotary Club of Waitsfield, the Mad River Tennis Club and the Sugarbush Racing Club. His passion for skiing is evident as his last runs where just last spring at age 88 when he dropped into Stein’s Run, Ripcord and The Mall for the very last time. He considered himself fortunate to be able to continue to participate in the sports he enjoyed.  He was also devoted to his family, thoroughly enjoying the frequent visits and vacations that were such an important part of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Needleman, (Waitsfield, VT), his daughter, Laurie Eddy with husband Ralph Eddy (Mill Valley, CA) and their beloved grandsons, Charlie and Seth Eddy, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Steven and brother Dr. Herbert Needleman.
