Robert E. Hansen, 83, of Warren, Vermont, passed away on May 27, 2020, after a short stay at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, VT. Prior to his admittance he was cared for at home by his wife, Betty, and Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.
Bob graduated with honors from the Wharton School of Commerce and Finance of the University of Pennsylvania where he was named to Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business fraternity. He was also a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He then went on to receive his MBA from New York University. Also, during this time, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Bob joined the National Newark and Essex Bank after college and went on to be president of Midlantic National Bank Sussex/Merchants in Newton, NJ.
During these years he discovered skiing at Mad River Glen and the Montclair Ski Club where he became president and oversaw the construction of a major addition to the club lodge at Mad River. He also met and married Betty Reade who was a member of the club. Skiing and the Mad River Valley were dear to his heart. In 1983, Bob and Betty restored and converted an old farmhouse in Warren and opened the Beaver Pond Farm Inn Bed & Breakfast. They operated the inn for 18 years where they met wonderful, interesting people. A good time was always had by all at Beaver Pond Farm. After selling the inn they built a lovely home in Warren Village. Bob was very happy there for 19 years.
Bob will be remembered for his extreme interest in the stock market, his love for his three yellow Labrador pets, extensive travels, fishing in Vermont, Argentina, New Zealand or from his boat in the Gulf of Mexico, skeet and trap shooting in Montpelier and Florida and his love of The Valley. He will be greatly missed, especially by his wife.
A celebration of his life will be held in the fall.
