Christine Denise Goulet was born in Providence, RI, January 31, 1949. On March 17, 2020, Chris passed away in her son Ali’s arms with her sister Suzanne by her side. She fought a most amazing battle against two rare forms of cancer for over three years. Christine leaves behind her son, Ali Goulet and his wife Joanna, and her two beloved grandsons who were the light of her life, Ethan, 11, and Max, 6. Christy had four sisters: Marcia Sharkey and husband Roy and their son, Justin; Linda Goulet and her life partner, Debra Olin; Suzanne French and her two daughters, Nicole and Brianna; and Jennifer Madigan, husband Kevin, and Jennifer’s daughter, Axis. In addition to her immediate family, Chris had an incredible family of friends whom she loved and was loved by in return.
Chris had many gifts and talents. She was a successful businesswoman having owned three clothing stores called Appalachian Gap and later another called Anika, the Green Cup Cafe and her most recent enterprise Kiss Tart Pie Crust. She also had her hands in many other businesses and often provided assistance in getting them up and running. She was a gifted musician who played viola and violin. Her home and gardens are evidence of her amazing artistic talents. Early on she attended Philadelphia College of Art and quite a few years later completed her degree in graphic arts at Rhode Island School of Design. Chris had a beautiful and sophisticated touch with gardens as well as being a fabulous cook! Everything she did, she did with great style and accomplishment.
Everyone who was lucky enough to know Chris was touched by her charm, her humor, her intelligence, her generosity and, of course, her independence. This was a beautiful bond shared by many. We will miss her dearly.
