Calvin Fletcher Potter, 80, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and family on Sunday morning, July 21, 2019. Born in Plainfield on March 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Brandon and Luella (Murray) Potter. On March 3, 1962, he married the former Nancy Shephard in Waterbury.
Calvin was a 1957 graduate of Montpelier High School and then went on to work for the state of Vermont highway department for 10 years and private contractors until 1992. For Calvin both Cecil and Joe were so much more than employers. Their friendship and camaraderie were truly treasured.

A true outdoorsman, Calvin enjoyed a variety of activities that included hunting, fishing, trapping, beekeeping, ice fishing on Little River Reservoir, 3-D archery and raising beagles. In addition, he and Nancy were faithful followers and supporters of their son Eric’s senior league baseball team, he enjoyed listening to WDEV and the daily Trading Post program, and dancing with his favorite partner, Nancy, throughout the years.
He is lovingly remembered for his mischievous grin, twinkle in his eye, wry and dry sense of humor, his outgoing personality and his love and affection for his children and grandchildren.
