Maurice S. Davis, 93, a longtime dairy farmer and resident of Waterbury, passed away at Barre Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday evening, January 27, 2019. Born in Montpelier on January 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Clayton and Jennie (Riggs) Davis. On June 5, 1954, he married the former Mary A. Dibbell in Waterbury Center. Mary predeceased Maurice on April 26, 1999.
Maurice was a 1944 graduate of Waterbury High School and worked on the family dairy farm throughout his life, retiring in 2006. His memberships included the Waterbury Area Senior Citizens, the Farm Bureau and Waterbury Center Community Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling Vermont’s back roads, a good book and doing a variety of puzzles.
Maurice is survived by his sons, Mark Davis and his wife Maureen of Waterbury and Stephen Davis of Middlesex; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Ferguson of Winooski; and his loving companion, Lorna Payne of Berlin. Maurice is predeceased by a grandson, Jacob Davis.
Graveside services will be held from Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center on a date and time to be announced this spring.
