Jennifer Jany, born on February 29, 1952, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away at age 66 on January 10, 2019, in Colchester, Vermont.
Jennifer Jean Joan Jany lived her life to its fullest; she truly appreciated her time on Earth and the beauty that surrounded her. She was an avid nature enthusiast. Jennifer owned two natural food stores, worked at the Vermont Welcome Center, and was a member of the Green Mountain Club of Vermont. She went on daily hikes, was a skier and enjoyed water sports such as rowing and sailing. In her younger years, she worked on an active farm and greatly contributed to maintaining the horticulture. Most recently, she worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Biology at UVM.
Jennifer also loved music and the arts. She was a member of the Burlington Sambatucada and volunteered at the Flynn Theater. In addition, she was involved in several humanitarian associations. Jennifer appreciated aesthetics, and it showed in her photography. She always had a camera accessible, so she could document and capture the special times in her life. Jennifer was married twice, to David Brooks and Sandy Macy. Her fondest memory and happiest time of her life was spent on Eric von Schmidt's farm in New Hampshire, with David. She is preceded in death by her father, Herman, and sister, Diane.
She is survived by her mother, Charlene; sister, Alison; nieces, Lauren, Melissa and Shala; and nephews, Christopher, Lonny and Yadin; as well as her large group of close friends. Jen will always be remembered as a beautiful, peaceful, creative, warm, nurturing individual who loved to laugh and practice mindfulness.
No public services will be held. Please celebrate her life by enjoying nature, partaking in a hike, breathing in the fresh air and looking up at the stars. Whenever you hear the song "Harvest Moon," by Neil Young, please think of Jennifer.
