Karen M. Worden, 53, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Waterbury on Thursday evening, December 13, 2018. Born in Montpelier on February 18, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Wayne E. Haskins Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Tatro) Haskins. Karen was previously married to Roy “Chucky” Worden.
Karen grew up in Waterbury and was a 1983 graduate of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. She then began a long career in housekeeping services working many years for the Village Green Condominium Complex in Stowe before forming a partnership with her sister, Barbara, in H & H At Your Service. More recently Karen worked as an independent housekeeper for several residential and commercial properties until 2015.
In her leisure time Karen enjoyed camping, swimming and puzzles. Beyond all else, she truly found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Savannah Powers and her husband Mike, and their children, Jade and Saphire Powers, all of Waterbury; two sisters, Barbara Carpenter of Waterbury and Penny Haskins and her companion Jerry Buker of Hancock; six brothers, Wayne “Pete” Haskins Jr. of Waterbury, Jerry Haskins Sr. and his wife Kathy of Loris, SC, Richard Haskins and his wife Barbara of Morrisville, Jeffrey Haskins and his wife Joan of Duxbury, Thomas Haskins of Morrisville and Gregory Haskins of Bolton; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A reception and silent auction to benefit Karen’s daughter and grandchildren will be held from the Waterbury American Legion, 16 Stowe Street, Waterbury, on January 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
