Nancy Elizabeth Green, 84, passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Born in North Fork, VA, on March 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George and Marion (McGinnis) Horne. She married Maynard H. Green on September 14, 1952, in Waterbury.
Nancy attended school in Waterbury and then as a young woman she was employed at the Vermont State Hospital as a psychiatric technician. After waitressing for several Waterbury area restaurants, she embarked on a long career in the record-keeping department at National Life Insurance Co. in Montpelier, retiring in 1998. Her memberships included the Duxbury Busy Bees, was a former member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Auxiliary Unit 59 in Waterbury and a longtime volunteer at the Central Vermont Medical Center Gift Shop in Berlin. In her leisure time she enjoyed a variety of crafts, needlework, sewing, a good book and the Waterbury Public Library. Nancy loved her family and cherished their time spent together.
Nancy is survived by her children, Susan Patterson and her husband David of South Duxbury, Marlene Hart of Duxbury, and M. John Green of South Duxbury; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her husband, Maynard Green of Waterbury Center; her special friend, Mary Parker; and her feline best friend, Oliver. Nancy was predeceased by a great-grandson, Liam Green, as well as two sisters and two brothers.
