Robert Griffin Obit webRobert Dennis Griffin, 82, passed away in the comfort of his home and family on Sunday evening, August 26, 2018. Born in North Fayston on February 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Dennis O. and Ina Mae (Pickett) Griffin. On June 27, 1954, he married the former Muriel Bissell in Moretown.

Bob attended schools in Fayston and Waitsfield and then as a young man went to work with his father logging for Ward Lumber Co. for several years. McDonald. In 2000, Bob followed his own entrepreneurial dream and founded Griffin and Griffin Excavating with his son, Michael, which he has operated until the time of his death.

In his leisure time, Bob enjoyed attending NASCAR races as well as following them on television, trying his luck on scratch-off tickets and megabucks, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids.

Bob is loved and mourned by his wife of 64 years, Muriel Griffin of Fayston; their children, Nancy Rowell and her husband Richard of East Montpelier, Betsy Rutledge of North Fayston, and Dennis Griffin and his partner Sandy Sabin of Claremont, NH; six grandchildren, Hillary LaFond and her husband Brian, Elizabeth McCormick and her husband Joseph, Amanda Farrell and her husband Brian, Erin Martin and her husband Justin, Christopher Griffin and his fiancée Amanda Cadieux, and Jeremiah Rutledge and his wife Sara; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Hale of Stowe; his canine best friend, Rocky; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Bob was predeceased by his son, Michael Griffin, on September 21, 2001, and two brothers, William and Charles Griffin.
