Annabelle Jolie Robert passed away early Friday morning, August 3, 2018, in Warren, VT, as the result of a fatal car accident.
Annabelle was born June 14, 1993, to Paul and Corina Robert and grew up in Brewster, NY. She first came to Vermont to attend Champlain College and later made Waitsfield and The Valley her home. Working at Sugarbush Resort, East Warren Community Market and American Flatbread, she made many, many friends. Referred to as a “shining light in the community,” she was truly a very special person who deeply loved her family, all little children and dogs. She always smiled brilliantly. She radiated optimism when others were down and made those who seemed outcast feel included and worthy. She had her grandmother’s deep appreciation of the natural world as she persisted in living off the beaten path where the views were most majestic. She taught herself to ski and never had trouble getting out of bed early on winter days off to make first runs on the mountain. Most of all, she loved hiking in the woods with her dog, Bailey Rae. Annabelle had a mind of her own, and while her vision for life was often a mystery to us, we see how in her first young adult years she became such a force of good in her world and, in return, so loved by so many wonderful people.
Annabelle is survived by her mother, Corina Robert of Southbury, CT; her father, Paul Robert of Burlington, VT; her sister, Nicole; her grandmother, Florence Mooney; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
We are very grateful to the first responders and other emergency services for their rescue efforts. We are in awe of the passionate, caring outreach by so many in The Valley. A very special thanks to those at East Warren Community Market and American Flatbread who have embraced us and brought people together to honor and remember Annabelle.
Her family and those who knew and loved her will gather to celebrate Annabelle’s life and spirit on Sunday, August 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at American Flatbread, 46 Lareau Road, Waitsfield, VT. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Vermont Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 1112, Waitsfield, VT 05673.
