Catherine J. Flanagan (Moulton), 70, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in West Virginia. Born November 28, 1947, she was the daughter of Louise (McNeil) and Eugene Moulton of Waitsfield, VT.
Cathie was a 1965 graduate of Waitsfield High School. She went to nursing school, graduating in 1966, and started nursing in Burlington, Vermont. Later, when her babies started to arrive, Cathie took a break from nursing and worked in the deli at Village Grocery, and then The Warren Store. She was also on the Mad River Valley Ambulance Service and was the organist at Waitsfield United Church. She then went back to nursing.
In her leisure time, Cathie enjoyed music and played the piano, organ, violin and the accordion. She loved singing, dancing, gardening, baking and crafts, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
She spent her life taking care of others, from taking care of youngsters to her customers at the deli to numerous patients in Vermont, Virginia, Connecticut and finally Maryland, where she retired, a couple years ago.
Cathie is loved and mourned by her children, Rose Wilkinson and husband Tom, Mary LaRock, Tina Farnham and husband Barry, Sean Kelly and wife Dawn; her grandchildren Catherine Royea and husband Joe, Crystal Jenks and husband Ryan, Christina LaRock, Angela LaRock, Jessica Farnham and Josh Cerven, Candace LaRock and husband Adam, Alisyn Badger and Adrian Beebe, Rebecca Badger, Angel Kelly, Kaitlyn Kelly, and Christian Kelly; her great-grandchildren Jalen, Riley, Abby, Caleb, Skyler, Audrey, Alexis, Lily, Zoey, and Adalyn; siblings Brian Moulton and wife Corinne, Keith Moulton and wife Beth, Gordon Moulton and wife Julie, James Moulton, Regina Miller and husband Lester, Rose Aronson and husband Jim; many cousins, nieces and nephews; lifelong friends; and her dear friend Kerry Flanagan and his family. She was predeceased by both parents; daughter, Diane Barton; sister-in-law, Wendy Moulton; and former husbands, Ronald D. LaRock and Patrick B Kelly.
There will be a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Cathie’s name to the Lupus Foundation at lupus.org or American Diabetes Association at diatbetes.org.
