Roger Vernon LaVanway, 71, of Moretown, passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2018. Born in Barre on November 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Albert E. LaVanway Sr. and Edythe (Brothers) LaVanway. On September 14, 1996, he married the love of his life, Judy, in Moretown.
Roger was a 1965 graduate of Waitsfield High School. A tradesman at heart, Roger worked his entire career as a carpenter until his retirement. He is fondly remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Roger is survived by his wife of 21 years, Judy LaVanway of Moretown; six daughters, Penny Parot and her husband John of Hyde Park, Tina Guyette of Waterbury, Amanda Essien of Moretown, Carla Vecchione and her husband Leo of Duxbury, Tracy Fifer of Aston, PA, and Teresa Nelson of Papillion, NE; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Roger is predeceased by his siblings, Connie Ruiz, Cathleen “Kitty” Dalley, Mavis Ricketts, Julia Dennler, Clarence LaVanway, Albert LaVanway Jr., Dowen LaVanway, and two grandchildren, Shelby Duvall and Rebecca Germaine.
Honoring Roger’s request, private graveside services will be held this spring in Hope Cemetery, Waterbury.
