Jane I. Pierce, 87, passed away peacefully at the Mayo Residential Care Center in Northfield on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017. Born in Warren on May 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Marion (Johnson) Shepard. On January 19, 1952, she married Harold G. Pierce in Rochester. Harold predeceased Jane on February 23, 1982.
Jane grew up and attended schools in Warren. Following her marriage, she was happy and busy as a homemaker and raising her family. With her children grown, Jane went to work in food service for the Sugarbush ski area and in addition, provided child care for families in the Mad River Valley. Jane loved her home in Warren Village, enjoyed seeking treasures at yard sales and flower gardening.
Jane is survived by her son, Larry Pierce of Waitsfield; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Coleman of Waitsfield; a brother-in-law, Albert Stone of Maryville, TN; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Jane was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Pierce O’Neill, and a sister, Donna Stone.
