Shirley Wing Leach, 90, of Brooklyn, CT, and formerly of Warren, VT, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Colonial Health and Rehab in Plainfield with her family by her side.
She was born in Waterbury Center, VT, on November 1, 1926, daughter of the late Arnold and Myrtle (Yates) Schonio. She was first married to Sidney E. Wing, who passed away in 1996, and later married Herbert W. Leach, who passed away in 2011. Shirley worked at the Willimantic Post Office for 21 years until her retirement. Prior to that she worked at the former Del Pesco Machine Shop.
Shirley was a member of the Federated Church of Christ of Brooklyn and loved to knit and square dance. She is survived by her children, Sidney H. Wing of Marlow, OK, and Marguerite Kissa of Burkesville, KY; grandchildren, William O’Connell, Maize Glickman, Jocelyn Rezewiski, Cora Grandy, Rachel Ketterlinus and Sidney E. Wing II.
She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Gordon Wing, and her brother, Francis Schonio. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Center Cemetery in Warren, VT.
