Howard M. (Hobs) Moyer of Palm City, Florida, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at his home.
Howard was born March 10, 1938, in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of the late J. Milton Moyer and Grace E. Moyer of Dagsboro, Delaware. He graduated from John M Clayton High School in Dagsboro, lettering in four sports. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Delaware where he lettered in football.
Upon graduation, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Army, trained as a missile unit commander and served two years active duty with the 52nd Artillery Brigade. He remained in the active reserve another six years and resigned as a captain.
While working for the Scientific Products Division of the American Hospital Supply Corporation, he was transferred to Connecticut where he was later employed by Diamond Shamrock Health Sciences. He started his own business, the popular Blue Tooth on Sugarbush Access Road in Vermont in 1980, which he ran successfully for 22 years.
One of his favorite avocations was being a contract writer for the New Haven Register of New Haven, Connecticut, who published over 350 of his articles.
When he discovered skiing, he made that his primary recreation, skiing resorts all over North America and Europe at every opportunity. He also became a decent club tennis and squash player.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Diane K. Moyer, and his sister, Jacqueline S. Baughman of Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
He has requested no services and encourages everyone to take family and friends to dinner and enjoy themselves.
