Stephen X. Gladczuk, 57, passed away at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Born in Hartford, CT, on September 14, 1959, he was the son of Jeannette A. (Mytyck) Gladczuk and the late Stephen F. Gladczuk. On September 22, 1992, he married Macy Moulton in Willington, CT.
Stephen graduated with his bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT, and then went on to work as a planner for Mid-State Regional Planning in Middletown, CT. In 1993, Stephen and his wife felt the allure of life in Vermont, settling in Waitsfield due to his love of the Mad River and the surrounding mountains. Here he enjoyed fishing, gardening, hiking, skiing, especially cross-country, and snorkeling in the deep recesses of the Mad River and in Lake Champlain. Stephen was employed for over 20 years as a transportation planner for the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission, retiring in July 2016 due to declining health.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Macy Moulton of Waitsfield; their daughter, Hannah Gladczuk of Waitsfield; his mother, Jeannette Gladczuk of Farmington, CT; a sister, Anne Graham and her husband Ed of New Haven, CT; and a niece.
It was Stephen’s desire that there be no public services. For those who wish, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Mad River Valley Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 305, Waitsfield, VT 05673.
