Joellen I. Valley, 78, a longtime resident of Waterbury, VT, passed away quietly at her home November 10, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. Joellen was born March 2, 1938, in Niagara Falls, NY, to the late Frances and Hazel (Yorke) Valley.

Joellen attended Niagara Falls High School and the State University of New York for nursing. She lived in New York until she moved to Connecticut and then to Vermont for the remainder of her days. In her leisure time Joellen loved to tend to her garden, cooking, singing, and spending time with her friends and her pets. She loved animals and exploring. She was very active with her church and writing for the prayer closet. She enjoyed watching cooking and home remodeling shows. She also always enjoyed camping.

Joellen is loved and will be mourned by all her close friends; her sister, Tannis McHugh and her husband Mac of North Carolina; and her niece, Rachael McHugh of North Carolina. She is predeceased by her father, Frances Valley, who passed in 1984; her mother, Hazel Valley, who passed in 1978; and her sister, Judith Harlan, who passed in August 2013.

Per Joellen’s wishes, no funeral service will be held, but a get-together will be held at Waterbury Center Community Church on November 19 between 2 and 6 p.m. where we will share funny stories and memories to celebrate her life. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury. To send online condolences please visit www.perkinsparker.com.

As Joellen would say, "Bye for now, friends."
