Sherry “Wiggie” Wells Brosseau, 64, a lifelong resident of the Waterbury area, passed away in the comfort of her family on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at McClure-Miller VNA Respite House in Colchester. Born in Burlington on January 31, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Janice R. (Deforge) Woodard. Sherry was previously married to Nathaniel Wells.
Sherry was a graduate of Harwood Union High School in Duxbury. In her earlier years she went to work in several vocations that included operating a day care from her home, driving a bus for the Harwood Union School District and working for the state of Vermont. Sherry later went to work as a waitress and bartender for the former Lobster Pot Restaurant in Montpelier as well as the VFW and American Legion Posts in Montpelier. For the past six years, Sherry has dedicated innumerable hours of work and volunteerism to the Waterbury American Legion as a bartender and working on events, fundraisers and other activities.
Her memberships included a lifetime membership of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Unit 792 in Montpelier and the Waterbury American Legion Post 59 of Waterbury.
In the earlier years of her life she enjoyed swimming and ice skating, later in life the fun of going to the casinos, but, most importantly, the time spent with her family brought her the most joy. Convivial and social, Sherry’s effervescence drew people to her. She was a people person in every sense of the word.
Sherry is loved and mourned by her children, Marty Wells and wife Tracy of Duxbury and Shannon Wells and his fiancée Tracy Mason of Waterbury; her grandchildren, Natalee Wells, Emalee Wells, Michaela Lord, Megan Wells and Destiny Mason; two great-granddaughters, Kamryn and Karlee Lord; two sisters, Barbara Dewyea of Eden and Misty Woodard of Colchester; two brothers, Michael Woodard and his wife Marcia of Waterbury Center and Brian Woodard and his wife Karen of South Duxbury; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
Memorial services will be held from Wesley United Methodist Church in Waterbury on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 3 p.m. with a celebration of her life following at the Waterbury American Legion. The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial gifts be considered to the Waterbury American Legion, P.O. Box 417, Waterbury, VT 05676. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury. To send online condolences visit www.perkinsparker.com.
