Cyrus Zschau 250Cyrus Edson Zschau, 16, of Moretown passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2016. He was born in Randolph, Vermont, on November 5, 1999, and lived in Northfield for the first four years of his life before his family moved to Moretown. He attended Sunrise Montessori School, Moretown Elementary and was currently a student at Harwood Union High School.

Cyrus had a deep love for playing and studying sports. He was a member of the Harwood varsity soccer and baseball teams where he loved, and was beloved by, his teammates and coaches. As an honor student in school, he had his future sights set toward the West for college.

Cy and his family spent a week every summer on Martha’s Vineyard where he loved to captain the boat and ride the surf. He worked at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm and Canteen Creemee Co. He loved to drive and had just recently purchased his own car with his brother. He was known for his wit, his kindness, his leadership and his love for bacon and cereal.

Cy traveled the western states, Florida and parts of France with his family. In the spring, he was looking forward to visiting Greece and Italy with some of his classmates. During the winter he loved to ski and hang out in the Mt. Ellen lodge with his closest friends.

Cyrus is survived by his parents, Sarah and Chris, and his brother Charlie, of Moretown; his grandmothers, Deborah Edson of Williamstown, Massachusetts, and Susan Powers of Naples, Florida; by four uncles and aunts, eight cherished cousins and many great aunts and uncles. He is also survived by the many friends who adored him and will miss him deeply.

There will be a service and celebration of his life held at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield on Sunday, October 16, at 3 p.m. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
