Lillian M. Sherman, 83, a longtime resident of Moretown, passed away at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Born in Rochester on March 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Peloquin) Corriveau. On May 11, 1953, she married Robert J. Sherman in Waterbury. Bob predeceased Lillian on December 14, 2015.
Lillian was a graduate of Waterbury High School and as a young woman, worked as a psychiatric technician at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. Later she was happy and busy as a homemaker and spending time with her family. Her memberships included St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury.
Lillian is survived by her children, Kevin Sherman and his wife Cynthia of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Misty Chase and her husband James of Duxbury; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Abair of Essex Junction; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Lillian was predeceased by a son, Christopher Robert Sherman Sr.; two sisters, Theresa Westover and Margaret Sollace; and four brothers, Joseph Corriveau Jr., Patrick Corriveau Sr., Henry Corriveau and Frank Corriveau Sr.
Graveside services will be held from Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury on September 3, 2016, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at St. Leo’s Parish Hall in Waterbury. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be considered to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
