Francis E. (Bob) Storer, formerly of Waitsfield, died peacefully Thursday, March 24, 2016, in Naples, Florida. He was born February 18, 1923, in New York, New York, the son of Francis E. Storer Sr. and Eleanor Hastings. The late Adelaide Storer Rowley, also formerly of Waitsfield, was his beloved sister.
Bob attended the Browning School of New York City, St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, Columbia College, New York, and Columbia Law School. During World War II, Bob served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England. After the war, Bob lived in New York City and worked as a writer and editor for Argosy Magazine and Tennis USA.
Bob came to Waitsfield when he married the late Nancy Bruce Fulton Storer in 1968. He loved the Mad River Valley. He and his family skied at Mad River Glen, swam at the Sugarbush Inn, played tennis at The Bridges and the Sugarbush Sports Center and loved shopping at Mehuron’s, The Warren Store and Jackie Rose’s The Store. He loved good food and was a regular visitor to Chez Henri and The Common Man. The Storers eventually built a new house in Starksboro with the help of local architect Malcolm Appleton. They kept close ties with The Valley through friends and family.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Adine M. B. Storer, of Melrose, Massachusetts, and his grandson, Ian H.
