Donald J. “Ducky” Lamson, 73, a lifelong resident of Waterbury, passed away at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Born in Burlington on October 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence J. Lamson Sr. and Dorothy E. (Collins) Lamson. On June 27, 1964, he married the former Linda A. Byrd in Waterbury.
Donald attended schools in Waterbury and then moved to Charlotte to work on a family member’s dairy farm for several years. Coming back to Waterbury, he was employed by the state of Vermont highway department in Middlesex where he worked as a truck driver and plow operator for over 10 years. Seeking other opportunities, Donald went to work first as a propane deliveryman for Suburban Propane in Waterbury for over 20 years and then for the former Green Mountain Propane Co. in Waterbury for over 10 years. More recently, Donald was employed by the state of Vermont at the Waterbury Office Complex as a boiler operator at the power plant, from which he retired.
In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and many friends.
Donald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda A. Lamson of Waterbury; their daughter, Donna A. Gonsalves and her husband Edward of Norton, Massachusetts; his grandson, Stephen Gonsalves of Norton, Massachusetts; two sisters, Sandra Williams of Duxbury and Marcia Holden of Windsor; four brothers, Everett (Leo) Lamson of Ocala, Florida, Albert Lamson of Waterbury, Richard Lamson of Jonesville, and Jack Lamson of Barre; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Ducky was predeceased by three sisters, Florence Hanlon, Rachel Guyette and Alma Ashley, and three brothers, Harry Lamson, Stanley Lamson Sr. and Clarence “Pete” Lamson Jr.
