Carol L. Vest, 70, of Waterbury Center passed away in the comfort of her home, family and friends on Monday, December 14, 2015. Born in Duxbury on November 1, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Viola (McNaulty) Fielder. On October 25, 1969, she married Garland “Gary” B. Vest in Waterbury. Gary predeceased Carol on June 5, 1996.
Carol was a 1963 graduate of Montpelier High School. Following her marriage, she and Gary founded Vest Construction in Waterbury, which they owned and operated for many years. Carol was later employed by the Abbey Group, who provided food services at the Waterbury State Complex for the state of Vermont. She retired in 2007.
Carol enjoyed many things in life that included being an avid Red Sox fan, cooking, reading and other activities, but what truly was the center of her universe is summarized in the word “family.” And that term often included her closest friends. She took great pride in her children and their many activities and upon the birth of her granddaughter, Payton, she became the love and light of her life.
Carol is loved and mourned by her daughters, Danielle Jensen and her husband Chris of Barre Town and Michele Boutin and her husband David of Williamstown; her granddaughter, Payton Boutin of Williamstown; two sisters, Nancy Millett and her husband Gilbert of Waterford, Maine, and her twin sister and best friend, Colleen Wimble of Waterbury Center; her brother, Malcolm Fielder and his wife Diana of East Montpelier; two special nephews, Chris Wimble of Leland, North Carolina, and Jeff Wimble of Duxbury; her extra special friend, Jackie Spence of Moretown; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Waterbury American Legion, 16 Stowe Street, Waterbury, on Saturday, December 19, 2015, from noon until 2 p.m. to celebrate and honor the life of Carol Vest. Private inurnment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury.
