Ramona A. Patterson, 90, a longtime Duxbury resident, passed away at Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Born in Waterbury Center on February 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Shirley (Jackson) Dalley. On June 30, 1945, she married David T. “Jack” Patterson in Waterbury. Jack predeceased Ramona on August 12, 1994.
Ramona was a 1943 graduate of Waterbury High School and as a young woman, worked at the former Demeritt Clothespin and Canning Factory in Waterbury. A woman with a strong work ethic, she was not only busy caring for her home and raising her family, Ramona worked as the bookkeeper for the Washington West School Board and operated, with her husband, Patterson Auction Service for many years. In addition, in 1957 she and Jack built and have since operated Patterson Mobile Home Park in Duxbury.
Ramona served her community as a member of the Duxbury Elementary School Board and the Duxbury PTA. She was also a 50-year member of the Busy Bees Christmas Club making holiday favors for local nursing homes, was a well-known and gifted seamstress in the greater Waterbury area and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury.
Ramona is loved and mourned by her sons, Edwin D. Patterson and his wife Maureen of Duxbury, Richard J. Patterson and his wife Theresa of Waterbury, and David T. Patterson and his wife Susan of Duxbury; three grandchildren, Mark A. Patterson and his wife Juanita of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Carrie Koniuto and her husband Rob of Morrisville, and Mindy Halpin and her husband Bob of Duxbury; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Patterson of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Autumn Patterson of Johnson City, Tennessee, Mehgan Koniuto and Morgan Koniuto, both of Morrisville, and Brittany Godwin of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; two great-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Luke Godwin; a sister, Barbara LaVanway of Windsor; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Ramona was predeceased by a grandson, Scott D. Patterson, and a brother, James E. Dalley Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Duxbury. There are no calling hours. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, P.O.
