Herbert O. Wolf, formerly of Fayston, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2015, in Boston.

Born on February 2, 1924, Herb was 91 and in remarkably good health until the last few months of his life. The son of Sam Wolf and Frances Harris Wolf, Herb was raised in Far Rockaway, New York, and later graduated from New York University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was injured on Okinawa. He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service and bravery. Following the war, he married Gertrude (Trudy) Rosenberg and together they raised three children: JoAnn Wolf of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Wendy Wolf of Newton, Massachusetts; and Peter Wolf of Jericho, Vermont. Trudy passed away eight years ago. Herb was the loving father-in-law to Andrew Schulman and the late Samuel Johnson and was the proud grandfather of David Johnson, and Emma, Madeline and Isabel Schulman. He was also the great-grandfather to Sam Johnson.

After raising their family in New Rochelle, New York, Herb and Trudy moved to The Valley where they enjoyed a full and active life. Herb was an avid golfer and loved going to the movies and spending time with his grandchildren and his friends, including his lifelong friend, Harold Dubelier. Herb moved to Brookline, Massachusetts, two years ago and lived independently until his death. He was humble, funny and down to earth, a true gentleman who touched other people's lives with his kindness and warmth.

Funeral service was held at Temple Sinai in South Burlington on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at noon and burial followed at The Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington.
