Marie M. Flatow, 74, passed away in the comfort of her home in Waterbury Center on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Born in Barnet on February 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Yvette (Lamothe) Morey. On December 18, 1965, she married Walter Flatow in Burlington. Walt predeceased Marie on October 27, 2003.
Following graduation from high school, Marie was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Houle Granite Co. in Barre. Following her marriage to Walt, together they owned and operated several business enterprises that included Midstate Motors, M&W Mini Mart and Flatow Auction Associates, all of Waterbury Center.
In her leisure time, Marie enjoyed bowling and volunteering at the Waterbury Area Senior Center.
Marie is survived by her son, Steve Salls and his wife Angela of Waterbury Center;
two grandchildren, Jamie Gokey and Shane Salls; four great-grandchildren, Michaela and Samuel Gokey, Hailey Salls and Shane Salls Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Morris of Fort Wayne Indiana, and Jane Deschamps of Barre; a brother, James Morey of Windham; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Marie was predeceased by a sister, Julia Morey.
Graveside services will take place from the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph this spring. Assisting the family is Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
