Our town fathers, zoning boards and planning commissions have a thankless job; they work after business hours and before normal business hours and they don’t even get paid. Most of the time they have to listen to neighbors pick at each other; it’s like watching a dog fight.
Do we need to fight about everything? Do we need to fight over barstools, evil glass blowers, a small patch of grass, or an existing road off Route 100 to get gas? Did all this make any sense? Zoning is no easy task for sure; the only thing for certain with zoning is, got a neighbor? You got complaints.
True North is a business that can fit in our towns and could easily or should easily work with our Town Plan; one town as much stated that. It’s a great business, something that’s not cookie cutter. However, people can interpret things differently, and we all know how some people/attorneys can argue over the definition of most anything, including “is.”
Perhaps the only people in town that know of or are protesting this business of True North are the neighbors. Huh, that’s something new and different. Does True North provide good paying jobs? Yes! Do they have minimal impact on our environment? Yes! Are they leaving this world a better place? Most definitely! Would our Valley be at a loss without them? Yes.
So back to our latest dog fight; we can all stand by, like Michael Vick, and watch these people fight. Or as citizens and more importantly as leaders of our community, we can say, “We respect the neighbors’ concerns but within reason.” We want this business, we will support this business in our community, and we’ll defend this business in our community. So if you want to fight city hall, go ahead and try.
Please join me in supporting a great business. Please let our leaders know we don’t want dog fights; we can have business in paradise. We can start by telling the state to stop interpreting our plan; we want this business. Next we can send the same notice to the neighbors and complainers; I’ll gladly provide the stamps.
