When the Moretown Town Office Committee warned its June 5 public forum, The Times Argus omitted the hearing impaired telephone number from the notice it published. As a result of this technicality, the committee will hold another public forum to discuss updated plans for the new town office on Monday, August 5.
Since the first forum, Moretown has submitted an application for a Vermont Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $865,286—the total estimated cost (including construction and administrative and legal fees) of building new town offices on the site of the Moretown Elementary School playground.
Moretown submitted its CDBG application on June 17 and found out just a few weeks later that it was only one of two towns (the other was Wilmington) that applied. Because of this, the CDBG committee has postponed reviewing the applications until it receives them from more towns. An increased number of applications should not affect Moretown's eligibility for funding.
