On Tuesday, May 14, Harwood Union High School hosted a track meet in which both the girls' and boy's teams took first place by a landslide over competitors North Country, Lyndon and Oxbow.
The Harwood girls' team finished with a total 160 point to second-place North Country's 64 points and the Harwood boys' team finished with a total 160 points to Lyndon's second-place 96 points.
Girls' meet results:
For girls, Molly Fergson took first place in the 100m dash with a time of 14.7. Jaime Thomas took first in the 200m dash with a time of 30.3 and Lauren Alexander finished third with a time of 31.3. Claire Brundage took third in the 400m dash with a time of 72.3. Lauren Alexander took first in the 800m run with a time of 2:45 and Alice Woodruff finished third with a time of 2:56. India Harvey took first in the 1500m run with a time of 5:21 and Jaime Thomas finished a close second in 5:23.
Harwood girls swept the 100m hurdles, with Lily Martin taking first place with a time of 18.8, Kendal Armstrong finishing second in 19.6 and Julia Simoes finishing third in 21.2. Harwood girls also swept the 300m hurdles, with Kendal Armstrong taking first place in 56.4, India Harvey finishing second in 60.3 and Cecilia Baker finishing third in 63.9.
Harwood girls took first in the 4x100m relay, second in the 4x400m relay and first in the 4x800m relay.
For girls' field events, Lauren Harper took first place in the high jump with a jump of 4'2". Haley Cleary took first in the long jump with a jump of 13'8" and Alexa Widschwenter finished second with a jump of 13'6". Kaylie Viens took first place in the triple jump with a jump of 28'11". Caitlyn Marino took second place in the shot put throw with a throw of 23'2". Haley Cleary took first in the javelin throw with a throw of 81'6".
Boys' meet results:
For boys, Brennen Degen took second place in the 400m dash with a time of 56.6. Nathanial Kazlow took first in the 800m run with a time of 2:10 and Geoffrey Kazlow finished third with a time of 2:14. Geoffrey Kazlow took first in the 1500m run with a time of 4:38, Nathanial Kazlow finished second with a time of 4:41 and Caleb Kessler finished third with a time of 4:42. Geoffrey Kazlow took first in the 3000m run with a time of 10:11 and Caleb Kessler finished second with a time of 10:14.
In the boys' 100m hurdles, Hayden Jones finished third with a time of 18.9. Brennen Degen finished second in the 300m hurdles in 47.2 and Jacob Pitman finished third in 48.1.
Harwood boys finished second in the 4x100m relay, first in the 4x400m relay and second in the 4x800m relay.
For boys' field events, Christian Macarilla took first place in the high jump with a jump of 6'2" and Markus Helmken finished third with a jump of 5'10". Jerry Seckler took first in the long jump with a jump of 17'11" and Markus Helmen finished third with a jump of 16'1". Markus Helmen finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 35'1" and Noah Evans finished third with a jump of 33'10". Max Ginnis finished second in the shot put throw with a throw of 39'10". Sean Cook took first in the discus throw with a throw of 110'8".
