The Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce recently accepted a grant of $10,000 from the Vermont Department of Buildings and Recreational Services on behalf of the Mad River Riders and the Vermont Mountain Bike Association. The funds will be used to continue the building of a multi-use recreational trail network in the Green Mountain National Forest at Blueberry Lake in Warren.
The Mad River Riders (MRR), as a founding member of the VT Mountain Bike Association (VMBA), has worked to build a network of recreational trails in The Valley over the last 20 years. This includes advocacy, landowner relations, fundraising, trail design, maintenance and building.
The trails at Blueberry Lake were over a decade in planning and are part of a growing partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the Mad River Riders and VMBA. VMBA and its chapters are the official Green Mountain National Forest mountain bike trail stewards.
The trail network at Blueberry Lake is geared toward beginner and intermediate level trail users of all ages. The trails are accessible in all seasons for hiking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing. There is no fee to utilize the trails.
