On Saturday, January 14, Vermont lawmakers will be on hand to inaugurate the Kelly Brush Race arena at Sugarbush's Mount Ellen. Green Mountain Valley School and the GMVS/Sugarbush Ski Club are hosting a race and ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the newly installed T-Bar running from the bottom of the Inverness trail to the bottom of an upper Poma lift, and the purchase of 20 energy-efficient snowguns for use in the race arena. 

The day will feature a race with Red and Blue courses. Governor Shumlin’s office is sending Alex Mclean, secretary of military affairs, Lawrence Miller, secretary of commerce, and Megan Smith, commissioner of tourism and marketing.  Representatives from all over Vermont including Adam Greshin, I-Warren, Willem Jewett, D-Ripton,  Anne Donahue, R-Northfield, Mike Fisher, D-Lincoln, Michele Kupersmith, D-So. Burlington, and Sam Young, D-West Glover are planning to race. David Provost, vice president of Champlain College, will announce the race and provide commentary

Sugarbush’s president Win Smith and Dave Gavett, GMVS headmaster, will speak at the ceremony.

The race will start at noon on the Inverness trail at Mt. Ellen. The ribbon cutting ceremony will start at 3 p.m. at the base of the T-Bar on the Mt. Ellen trail followed by a cocktail party in the ski club.
