Alexa Brouillard first grade teacher
Alexa Brouillard lives in Warren. She grew up in Nashua, NH, and moved to Vermont after she graduated college. She spent her childhood weekends skiing at Mad River Glen where she eventually ended up teaching skiing for 10 years. She worked as an instructional assistant at The Warren School for four years and at Champlain Elementary School for one year. She also taught kindergarten and first grade at Champlain Elementary School for a year. "In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking with my partner and his dog, paddle boarding, skiing, and enjoying everything The Valley has to offer. I am beyond excited to step into the role as first-grade teacher at FES and joining this community,” she said.
Anne Cassels -- second and third grade teacher
Anne Cassels lives in Moretown with her husband, their two sons, and two dogs. She has been teaching in the Harwood School District for nine years as a special educator and is excited to be going back to the classroom and teaching grades two and three at Fayston Elementary this coming school year. "I have worked in Fayston a number of years ago and know that it is a special school community and I look forward to coming back and working together with families, students, and staff,” she said. Prior to being a special educator, she was an elementary education teacher for 15 years, both in Massachusetts and southern Vermont. She enjoys being outside and exploring all that Vermont offers. "This year I am participating in the Vermont Master Naturalist Program and am so happy to bring this experience to the students and share a love of the outdoors,” she said.
Moxie Craig -- school counselor
Moxie Craig (she/they) lives in Warren, with her partner Sam Robinson and his family. She and Robinson have two dogs named Juneau and Rhyder and they can often be found taking them for long runs, hikes, or camping trips. "Being immersed and tuned into nature is a large part of my therapeutic stance in addition to filling my free time with outdoor recreation activities. I also love to garden and bake,” she said. Her educational background is in social work with a specialization in working with adolescent and childhood trauma and development. She is excited to be making the shift into the education sphere and to get to work alongside Fayston's staff to continue cultivating a nurturing and supportive school environment, she said.
Chelsea Asher – paraprofessional
Chelsea Asher grew up in Concord, New Hampshire, and moved to Fletcher, Vermont, eight years ago. "I quickly fell in love with Vermont’s small town, big heart communities and have never felt so much at home since moving here. I recently moved to Waterbury with my partner, Cyrus, and our 5-year-old miniature dachshund, Gunner, aka Funny Gunny or The Governor. He is full of energy and keeps us on our toes. In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, fishing, going on nature walks, reading a good book, all sorts of arts and crafts, and drinking coffee on my deck,” she said. For the past five years, she worked at Fletcher Elementary School as a paraeducator in grades pre-K through sixth, primarily in preschool. She is excited to continue her journey in education at Fayston Elementary as an instructional assistant and looks forward to meeting new friends, both small and big, and getting to know Fayston’s community.
MJ Wright - interventionist
MJ Wright lives in Waterbury with her husband where they raised their two sons and saidm "We definitely made the right choice when we moved back to Vermont after having lived in Colorado, Texas, and New York."
She taught in New York State, and for the past 20-plus years has been teaching in Vermont. I am a licensed special educator with advanced degrees. She is passionate about literacy and helping all students in engaging with reading and writing. Her goal is always for students to feel confident and excited in their skills.
"I am so looking forward to being a part of the Fayston Elementary School community this school year. Having previously worked at Fayston for 15 years, it feels great to be returning. I’m very excited about this opportunity,” she said.
"When I’m not reading, I love gardening, kayaking, hiking, and enjoying living in Vermont,” she added.
