Scheffert was selected as the top candidate because of her administrative experience in the Lamoille North Supervisory Union, her involvement with educational initiatives outside of her supervisory union, her experience as an educator, and her enthusiasm for working as a superintendent of schools.

Scheffert's appointment is the result of an extensive superintendent search conducted by a search committee of board members, administrators, teachers, staff, parents, community members and a high school student.  The search was chaired by Missy Siner Shea, chair of the Waitsfield School Board, and facilitated by Richard Moser, interim superintendent of the Washington West Supervisory Union.

The search process included a review of 20 applicants from Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and other non-New England states. The process included interviews with the Superintendent Search Committee and Washington West Supervisory Union Board, visits to candidates in their home district, and a visit for candidates to our supervisory union.
