Moretown
In Moretown, 102 of the 1,299 registered voters cast official ballots in the state primary; 56 were democratic, 43 were Republican, and 3 were Progressive. Moretown voters favored Democrat Peter Welch for representative to Congress, with 46 of the total 56 votes. Welch's challenger Craig Hill received six votes.
The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Brian Dubie, earned 41 votes. In the Democratic race for lieutenant governor, Nate Freeman received 35 votes and Thomas Costello received 14 votes. In the Democratic race for state senator, Ann Cummings received 41 votes, Kim Cheney, 36, and Laura Moore received 28 votes.
Moretown Democrats cast 36 votes for Democratic gubernatorial challenger Gaye Symington and Moretown Republicans cast 42 votes for incumbent Republican Governor Jim Douglas.
Moretown voters cast 26 votes for Warren Republican candidate for secretary of state Gene Bifano, a race where the incumbent Deb Markowitz received 47 votes.
In the race for state representative, incumbent Democrat Maxine Grad received 48 votes and incumbent Representative Anne Donahue received 36 votes. Challengers Anthony Vach, a Republican, received 23 votes.
Duxbury
In Duxbury, 12 percent of registered voters cast ballots, a total of 118 out of 958. Duxbury voters overwhelmingly chose Democrat Peter Welch for representative to Congress with a total of 66 votes to 17 for Craig Hill. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gaye Symington came out over Republican incumbent Jim Douglas with a total of 59 votes to his 26.
For lieutenant governor, Duxbury residents voted in favor of Democrat Thomas Costello over Nate Freeman by a vote of 37 to 27. Republican incumbent Lt. Governor Brian Dubie received 25 votes.
Incumbent Secretary of State Deb Markowitz was overwhelmingly favored by Duxbury voters, earning 76 votes over Republican candidate Eugene Bifano, Warren, who had 15 votes. For state senator, Duxbury Democrats voted in favor of incumbent Ann Cummings, with 68 votes, with Kimberly Cheney a close second with 63 votes. Duxbury Republicans gave incumbent State Senators Bill Doyle 18 votes and Phil Scott 22.
In the race for state representative, incumbent Sue Minter, a Democrat, received 82 votes; Gordon Miller received 13 votes; and Tom Stevens received 70 votes. In the Republican race for state representative, Phillip Anthony received 18 votes.
Warren
In Warren, gubernatorial candidate Gaye Symington earned 50 votes over Republican Jim Douglas with 24 votes. Warren voters favored Democrat Deb Markowitz over town resident, Republican Eugene Bifano, 57 to 15 for secretary of state. In the Democratic race for lieutenant governor, Nate Freeman earned 36 votes, Thomas Costello received 17, while Republican incumbent Lt. Governor Brian Dubie earned 23.
State Representative Carol Hosford earned 58 votes. In the race for Washington County State Senate, Democratic candidates Kim Cheney, incumbent Ann Cummings and Laura Moore received 42, 43, and 31 votes, respectively. Warren Republicans gave incumbent state Senators Bill Doyle and Phil Scott 23 and 20 votes.
Fayston
In Fasyton 32 Democrats cast ballots, 12 Republicans cast ballots and there were no ballots cast by Progressives or Liberty Union candidates.
Fayston Democrats chose incumbent U.S. Congressman Peter Welch over challenger Craig Hill by a vote of 28 to 4. Voters also favored Nate Freeman over Thomas Costello in the Democratic race for lieutenant governor by a vote of 21 to 7.
Gaye Symington received 23 votes for governor, Jeb Spaulding received 29 votes for state treasurer, Deb Markowitz received 28 votes for secretary of state and Carol Hosford received 29 votes for State representative.
In the race for state senator, Democratic candidates Kim Cheney, incumbent Ann Cummings and Laura Moore received 22, 27 and 23 votes, respectively.
Fayston Republicans cast nine votes for a Warren man, Gene Bifano, running for secretary of state. These voters cast 12 votes for Jim Douglas, running for re-election as governor and Brian Dubie running for re-election as lieutenant governor. Voters gave incumbent state Senators Bill Doyle and Phil Scott 11 votes each.
Waitsfield
In Waitsfield, 88 Democrats cast ballots, along with 54 Republicans, 5 Progressives and 3 Liberty Union voters. Democrats favored incumbent Democrat Peter Welch for U.S. Representative to Congress over challenger Craig Hill, 73 to 13. Democrats cast 71 ballots for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gaye Symington. In the Democratic race for lieutenant governor, Waitsfield voters gave Thomas Costello 22 votes and Nate Freeman 44 votes.
In the race for state Senate, Democrats cast 68 votes for Kim Cheney, 68 votes for Ann Cummings and 59 votes for Laura Moore. Incumbent State Representative Carol Hosford received 29 votes. Warren, Independent candidate Adam Greshin received one write-in vote for state representative.
Waitsfield Republicans cast 51 votes for incumbent Republican Governor Jim Douglas and 49 votes for incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Brian Dubie. Waitsfield voters cast 78 ballots for incumbent Secretary of State Deb Markowitz and 41 for Warren Republican challenger Gene Bifano.
Republican incumbent State Senators Bill Doyle and Phil Scott received 40 and 41 votes, respectively.
