Efficiency Vermont and Central Vermont Community Action Council are partnering to provide a workshop for residents with flood-damaged buildings around the state. They will be offering this presentation for residents in Waterbury, Duxbury, Moretown and the Mad River Valley. The workshop is free and all are welcome.
The event takes place at Harwood Union High School Cafeteria this Thursday, September 22, at 7 p.m. from 7 to 9 p.m.
It is important that people understand the steps they can take to make their home safe, healthy and energy-efficient as they rebuild. This workshop will include information about dealing with drying walls and basements, addressing mold and improving building and systems efficiency while rebuilding.
The hour-long presentation will be followed by an open Q&A. Organizers will have some technical folks available to talk about moisture and mold, electrical and heating systems. There will be additional information that people can take away with them and a list of places folks can call for further information. In addition, Efficiency Vermont will be providing information on their special flood-relief assessment and air-sealing program.
If, after this workshop, people wish to learn hands-on techniques for making energy efficiency improvements in their own homes (the Do-It-Yourself approach), hands-on workshops teaching necessary skills—the Weatherization Skillshops—will be held around the state this fall, beginning in Essex on October 1. www.weatherizationskillshop.com.
