The beef was received, cooked and served in Warren and also in Moretown (which shares food service with Harwood). Warren Principal Andreas Lehner emailed at the end of last week to report that the school had and served some of the beef but said he phrased the question to food service manager Claire Simpson in such a way that she answered, "No," meaning the school no longer had any rather than "no," the school never received any of the meat.
"I should set the record straight. When I read this email, I called Claire and asked, 'Do we have any of that beef?' She said, truthfully, 'No.' I didn't ask her the question you asked, 'Did we receive any?' If I had asked <MI>that<D> question, she would have told you what Fayston and Harwood told you -- she did receive it, she did serve it in a couple of meals and when we got the notice that it might be questionable, she did destroy it. So our story is the same as the others; we can't claim any special virtue on the matter," Lehner wrote.
Moretown likewise served the beef to students when it was provided by the Harwood Union food service program. And Moretown Principal Roberta Barone did respond to requests for information about the beef and Moretown's cafeteria, but due to a production error, last week's story about the beef ended with a paragraph that said she had not responded. After Barone responded to the request for information about Moretown, the last paragraph of last week's story was removed but not thoroughly enough for the computer document.
