MRG had an inspired opening day thanks to a few days of heavy snowfall, where over 20 inches fell in a single storm. Snow continued to fall throughout the week and weekend, with a fresh dusting Sunday night and Monday morning.

The newly refurbished single chair is up and running and looking mighty fine. A small crowd gathered around the single for most of the day, but the mountain was surprisingly quiet on the cruise down.

The single and the Sunnyside double were welcoming passengers to 100 percent of wide open Mad River Glen. To date the mountain has seen between 28 and 55 inches of snow and continues to revel in early powder and packed powder conditions.

The air was thick with excitement and opening day glee. Following a less than stellar early season last year, skiers delighted in their first turns on early season snow.

This year commemorates the opening of the newly restored Single Chair, which will receive its official dedication this Saturday, December 15. MRG plans to recreate the original opening day with Miss Vermont 1948, Jean Peatman, and the current Miss Vermont will be joined by Travel and Tourism Commissioner Bruce Hyde to dedicate the historic single.

Those who purchased chairs as a part of the Capital Chair Campaign will have the opportunity to be the first to ride their chairs.
